Planning for 2018 –

This is quite a traumatic post to write! Originally our thoughts were to continue along the Canal Lateral a la Loire, join into the River Seine and head to Paris. Someone said to me one absolutely has to cruise through Paris on one’s own boat, drinking champagne! But sometimes, reason must prevail. I am not working in the offshore industry anymore, which means I am not able to continue to keep Shangri La up to scratch – it is very hard owning such an asset in France when we live in South Africa. Our time in France is also severely restricted by Schengen Visa limitations. So we have come to the heart-rending decision that it is time to put Shangri La on the market!!

This year then, we will go back down the Canal de Roanne a Digoin, make left turn and check out Decize. Then turn around and head back via Digoin and the Canal du Centre and the River Saone to St Jean de Losne. Once here, we will utilize the services of H2O brokerage. In the meantime we have her advertised with Rene of Scheepenkring, through which we originally purchased her. Hopefully we will find a good buyer and new owner for her, and also we would like to finish the 2018 season aboard her, cruising the Saone up to Corre and back to St Jean.
